More IVF meds post ET

-->

Today I had a visit with my RE.  I am 4dp5dt, went in for bloodwork, and found that my progesterone levels are low, around 7.7.

My RE added 200mg Progesterone three times daily to my routine.  This is in addtion to progesterone suppositories, Estrace and Vivelle.  I just wanted to know if anyone has taken these meds, what were-if any-affects you had and did you see an increase in your levels.  I keep reading about low progesterone levels if you take suppositories, and wanted to get other opinions.

Thanks so much!

  • I take the pio shots and my levels are pretty good.  One shot a day.  Good luck!  I got side effects the first time I took it - just nauseous for a few days.

  • From what I understand when you take progesterone suppositories you will not see it reflected in your blood work. If you take it by mouth you will see an increase in your blood levels. It seems that doctors still like to "see" a higher number so as a precaution they increase the dose. Don't worry too much, the same thing happened to me. Also, I have taken all the meds you mentioned and except for slight nausea the first couple doses I had no side effects.

  • I haven't had to do this myself, but the only other side effect from progesterone that you might see is a little sleepiness, maybe some headaches and some constipation. Good luck!
