C section no weight loss

Had the baby exactly a week ago via csection. I left the hospital 3 lbs heavier than I went in with. Some said it is water weight and it will all fall off in 2 weeks. So far nothing, so I will surely wait and see end of next week. But not seeing a single pound drop is disheartening and should I assume that all the 50 lbs that I gained during pregnancy is just pure fat. I know that's seems unreasonable but cannot stop thinking. Did anyone take more than 2 weeks to see any change? I am pumping regularly as I have very minimal milk production and baby won't latch.

Re: C section no weight loss

  • I think you should talk to your doctor. You must be retaining a ton of fluid. It can be significant but that sounds excessive. GL.

  • I agree. That seems excessive. If you don't see a change in the next few days, you may want to put a call in to your OB office.
  • I meant to say 50lbs gained during pregnancy. I left  hospital 3lbs heavier. I have not lost any since last week which is when I had csection
  • IV fluids take a long time to leave your system.  No weight loss at all though seems a little strange.  TMI, but are you having BM's?
  • Yes it water weight it will all go away in a couple of weeks..just get plenty of rest..drink lots of fluids..eat healthy!

  • Yup no issue with BM
  • Yeah, dont feel bad about this at all.  I had a section too and a long labor before that and got a total of nearly 10 liters of fluid and was huge when I was in the hospital.  I got home and was told it would come off in two weeks.  Nothing happened at first and then the sweats started at night and you will understand what that means as the fluid shifts, it will come off.  I have now lost 29 pounds of 45 in 13 days.  The water is still coming off.  I am sure the actual fat I added on will be much harder to lose but the swelling will come off, and if it does not make sure you are drinking a TON of water and call your doc.
