Started doing a bit of donor egg research today and it has me a bit freaked out. I think I've kept from looking up and reading about it hoping I won't have to go this way but I like to be prepared so in the deep end I just jumped! Uggghh
Me 34 and DH 39 married in aug. 2002
Did 5 round of clomid 2010 =BFN
High levels of NK CELLS DX sept.2012 DOR:# 0.02

Shared cycle..Donor cycled in July Got 12 eggs 9 fertilized and 8 frozen!!

A few months ago I "applied" for access to some donor registries so I could see for myself what kind of donors were available and how I felt about them. It's hard to find information that's hidden behind the veil. It was a good move and made me feel more confident in our back up plans.
I would suggest you think about doing the same.

Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal
Moving on to IVF.
IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy
Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14

You can access your doc's database but you could/should also look elsewhere, if only for the reasoning of knowing what other databases offer.
Our home base clinic only offers anonymous donors in their database, but would work with a known donor once we secured her. So for us, because we want a known donor, we need to look around elsewhere.
Regarding your doc knowing - 1) if he/she thinks you should be using donor eggs, he/she should be honest with you, regardless of what you want to hear. A 2nd opinion should confirm that conclusion. Maybe that sounds harsh but I think the heartache, $$, and time saved is worth it.
2) it's in his/her best interest that you feel comfortable with the care you receive at their clinic, you're in command, you're in charge of your care and future.
3) You should feel comfortable enough with your doc to tell them what you told us, exactly, that you're not ready yet, but need to look ahead to prepare yourself.

I also read some blogs and watched some youtube videos of some egg donors who video-blogged their experience. It was really great to hear and read some of their perspectives and experiences for me. I don't know why, but it was nice to see some 'real' donors and read about what made it a meaningful experience for them. For example, one said hearing about the couple she was helping made it better for her - so I asked, and my donor was *thrilled* to learn about me and my partner, and wrote us a lovely letter after the transfer saying how she thought about us the whole cycle and it really made her happy to know about us (anonymously of course). I think it helped me too actually.
Anyhow, the clinic in portland, OR was quick to give me access to their donor database and they have adult photos which was cool (my clinic only had childhood photos). They are hella expensive, but have really high stats/success. I couldn't afford these guys, but they had a LOT of egg donors to review:

Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle
We started looking into DE early on in the process even though we were trying IVF with OE first. My numbers weren't great and my doc suggested that OE might not work. He was more than happy to give it a chance but we always had DE in the back of our minds. I think it's a great idea to start sooner than later and I'm so grateful that we weren't in a situation where the 2nd and 3rd IVFs failed and THEN started looking into DE. I feel like it would have been too much to take at once.
We also didn't want our doc to know we were thinking about it. Sort of irrational? Yes, but it made us feel better to do the research on our own first. What I did, is I registered with a handful of donor agencies for the sole purpose of looking at the potential pool of donors. My doc never even knew. I just wanted to know that there was at least one woman out there who would "work" for us. I found a bunch actually and it did make me feel better knowing we had this other option available to us.
I hope your next cycle gets you your BFP and all of the research and information turns out to be a waste of time.
