Pregnant after 35

Introduction - 41 and PG!

I am 41 and have one DS who is 7 and just got a BFP last Thursday.  I was convinced I was not PG on Tuesday and was actually crying at work because I was having bad cramps and spotting and I was sure I was not PG, and I even posted on TTC after 35 that I was really upset to have another month of BFN.

Then the cramping and spotting just stopped...so two days later I took a test and was shocked to see two lines. I have my first appt with my new OB today. We do not plan to tell anyone (including our DS) until we are farther along and know if things look good or not.

I know it is early but I am sooo tired and also I swear I am bloated already because my pants do not fit right.  Other than that, so far I feel really normal and not pregnant.

  • This is such an exciting time, congratulations and best of luck to you!  As far as not telling people until further along, you might be surprised that people may start to assume you should tell them (i.e. someone at work came up to me and said "do you have something to share" because they'd heard a rumor...) tell people when you are comfortable, in the mean time though, share with this community as much as you like.  Congrats!

    Me - 38 DH - 38 DD - 2 pregnancy
  • Congrats!

Both the bloating and sleepiness were my first signs of being pregnant.  Both seems to kick in just days before I took the test.  I totally didn't make the connection.

I was convinced I was not PG on Tuesday and was actually crying at work because I was having bad cramps and spotting and I was sure I was not PG. Then the cramping and spotting just stopped...so two days later I took a test and was shocked to see two lines

Sounds like your little bean wasn't going to take....then decided to stick around after all! :)

  • Congratulations!

I felt normal until 6wks and then I felt like crud.  Ick!

  • Congratulations and welcome to the board! I had a similar experience, bleeding and cramping, swore it was another month of bfn. I had bleeding and cramping two more times during 1st tri, but now I'm over 16 weeks and baby is healthy!
