TTC after 35

XP: Fert report

So we started off with 13 eggs retrieved yesterday.  I was just told that 5 were fertilized via ICSI and are growing.  3 fertilized without assistance so 8 total.  If I understand correctly, one was not mature and the other 4 were not fertilized.   I see that fertilization numbers really vary for women here and I'm not sure whether or not to be excited or worried.  It's definitely not close to buddhamama's numbers :) But I think that seeing how I am a 38 year old I should be happy!

Re: XP: Fert report

  • Congratulations!!! 8 out of 13 is FABULOUS!! That's a GREAT number!

One of the hardest things I learned from IVF#1 : Never compare yourself to anyone else... period. Smile You are unique and all of our bodies respond differently.

For example : I have 18 growing, I'll be really, really lucky if we have one on day 5/6. I have really poor egg quality.. really poor.  We started with 30, and 18 fertilized...  Every cycle has been different for me..

Also, IMO.. the Infertility board can be  tough..a big mix of ladies with a big mix of issues with all age ranges .... I found myself always being the "lonely duck" with the BFN.  I hide out over here with these ladies...I feel a bit safer / smaller group :).

Be EXCITED!! That is a REALLY good number!!!

Are you doing a fresh transfer on day 3 or 5?

    Me = 39 DH = 50 TTC (since 01/2009 after a short break, I stopped counting *cycles* in 2010)
    DX 2010 : Unknown Infertility , AMA
    HSG 2005 = Normal / HSG 2010 = Normal
    SA 2005 = Normal / SA 2010 /2012 = Slightly low count : motility, morphology GREAT!
Chromosomal analysis, MTHFR, ANA's, Lupus, Protein C, Protein S, APCR = Normal 2011

    M/C : 2005 (7wk), 2010 (6wk), 2011 (7wk)

    8 IUI's 2010-2011 all BFN

    IVF/ICSI antagonist 01/2012 #1 = BFN

    IVF/ICSI antagonist long 06/2012 #2 = BFN

IVF/ICSI/CGH MDLF New Clinic/New RE 11/2012 #3 = One beautiful boy blasty frozen PGS normal

IVF/ICSI/CGH MDLF 02/2013 #4 = One more beautiful boy blasty frozen PGS normal

    FET 6/20 : One 5AA PGS normal transferred Beta 1 6/28 = 53.9 / Beta 2 7/1 = 220 / Beta 3 7/3 = 550!

    1 U/S  6w3d - Heartbeat 119 /  2 U/S - 7w5d- Heartbeat 169 / 3 U/S (OB) 8w5d - Heartbeat still great!

  • Congratulations! I haven't done IVF yet so am not an expert but I lurk a lot on the Infertility board and think BAKER is spot on. It's hard not to compare to other people but not only could it make you sad, it is totally misleading!

Stay positive! It only takes ONE to get you there so you are in good shape! I think someone one posted that the doctors and nurses sing to the embies while they grow.  Maybe you can since to them from afar :)

    fingers crossed for you!

Me: 37 DH: 37 TTC since Jan 2012. RE consult and initial testing done in Aug 2012: SA fine, AMH 1.1 & HSG clear - on way to IUI but got BFP on 9/10/2012. m/c 10/3/2012 at 6w5d. • As all the ladies were saying, don't compare yourself, that is great advice.  I know that I have done that a time or two and is not good....I haven't started my IVF yet, so I don't have any technical advice and or experience to share but,

You should be very excited, I am sure you have a little fighter in there!  :)

    Best of Luck.

  • I have no experience with IVF, but agree with pp. Try not to compare your numbers to others. I am sure it is hard not to do...  I am hoping you have at least one fighter in those 8! Please keep us posted. Wishing you only the best..
