Do you cut your boys hair?

If so do you have any tips/tricks you use to make sure it doesn't look choppy? I generally use a clippers on the back and sides and a scissors on the top.

  • I did.

I am not comfortable doing so, so homeboy's gonna suck it up and sit in a plane and get that shiit done.

    One day.

  • I do quick trims between haircuts and it usually looks choppy.  If I can get him to sit still I can do an ok job.  I use scissors all over.

  • I don't bother. He looks cuter with shaggy hair than he would with a DIY mommy trim. We just spend 10 bucks on a cut a few times a year. I actually missed his shaggy curls when we cut it last time.  I might have to give his bangs a little trim this time though.

  • I trim DS's while he's in the bath because it's easy to wet and he's usually pretty distracted. But, he has super curly hair so you really can't tell if I mess it up. If it were straight I don't know that I'd do it myself. I just use haircutting scissors.

This is what I do as well.  Sometimes I trim by his ears with scissors.  No tips on really cutting it though.

  • No way.

I pay $20+ every 6 weeks for him to sit in a car chair, watching Wiggles, and eating a lollipop while someone else cuts his hair and I read a magazine.

It works for us, and his hair looks awesome.

  • My cheapskate husband insists we do it until they really care.  I don't really mind and generally it looks alright but the last time we did it I was disappointed how it turned out.

They use clippers with a #6 attachment. I have no idea what that is, but it means the hair is longer and looks cut as opposed to shorn, which I prefer. It seems to be easier than waving scissors around a toddler's face, as well.

  • There is no way my kid would let me near his hair.  He just started letting me clip his nails while awake about a month ago.  We take him to a kid's haircut place.  If you are going to do it yourself I would recommend clippers to buzz his hair while he sits watching his favorite show or movie.
