We're getting my DD evaluated at our local children's hospital. They have a neurodevelopmental center. We're doing a 3-4 hour eval with a team. I'm not too sure who is present at the eval other than the pediatric neurologist but I know there's a developmental pedi/SLP/OT on staff. Our current SLP/OT are also coming to the appointment.
We had the initial eval with his Dev Pedi. If I remember correctly it was 1.5 to 2 hours. It was a combination of parent interview and play based evaluation. She referred us to the child psych, Speech eval, and OT eval.
The child psych appointment was almost 4 hours including breaks. She used the ADOS and at least one other formal eval. She gave us the Dx at the end and mailed a full report a few months later.
We did not go the developmental pedi route for dx, we went with a team through a child psych. It did not include OT.
DH took her to about 6-8 hours of testing over two days, IIRC, plus we filled out a lot of questionnaires. They did ADOS, Vineland, an IQ test and several other tests that I don't recall the names of -- I don't think they spent every second of that time testing/observing they did do some breaks and DH had to fill out forms as well. We had already had a private speech eval done at that point, so there was no need to replicate that.
We have not gotten a second opinion, unless you count the school district's evaluation which confirmed delays in speech, OT and social interaction to qualify her for services. We'll likely do testing again when she is 6-ish.
