Really Late Intro

I've been lurking on the board and posting some since October (I think), but have yet to introduce myself officially.  I've never been on a message board until this one, so I'm still figuring out the etiquette.

My husband and I decided to try for number 2 in January 2012. We conceived in April, but lost the baby in May.  It was really hard and I was so thankful for support from our family and friends.

We conceived again in August and I had my first ultrasound in October.  My regular OB/GYN determined that we are having identical twins!  She recommended an MFM who I have been seeing every 2 weeks since the end of October.

The girls looked great at every appointment until January 2 when they were diagnosed with TTTS.Thankfully, we only live 20 minutes from the Houston medical center. We were very lucky to see a surgeon the following day and to have the laser ablation surgery with 48 hours of a diagnosis.  Both girls are the mend, although one appears to have developed a small intestinal tear which is causing fluid to accumulate in the abdomen. Thankfully it's not life threatening and my doctor thinks it may heal before the girls arrive. I am definitely praying it does heal.

I've been put on modified bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy.   It's getting a little old, but I'll do whatever is best for the girls.

I hope this is a good intro. I've never virtually introduced myself before. :)

  • Welcome to the board and congrats on your twins! Sounds like you've been through a lot already but I hope your daughter continues to heal and that all goes smoothly with the rest of your pregnancy!

  • Welcome (officially).  I think I responded on one of your TTTS posts.  I am also a Texan with TTTS survivors.  Hoping your girls continue doing well and your LO's issue resolves.

  • Congrats on your twins and I'm glad the surgery has been successful for u! My DH and I had a TTTS scare and went to Houston from San Antonio to see Dr. Bebbington but he determined we have a marginal cord insertion on small baby b and not TTTS. Still scary making sure baby keeps growing but we're hanging in there packing in the protein. Hope ur LO continues to heal and grow and keep those babies cooking!

  • Welcome, and congratulations! It sounds like you are in great hands! Modified bed rest does get old...but you'll be thankful for it if you're ever put on STRICT bedrest! Do you know if your twins are girs or boys? Your introduction was great! No worries. This is a very supportive and accepting board.

Thanks!   We have seen Dr. Bennington also. Their office has made us feel as relaxed as possible considering the complications.

We are having ID girls!  We are very excited. We have 1 boy already, so we excited to learn about raising girls.

I am so glad not to be on strict bed rest. I think I would go crazy. If modified bed rest helps me avoid that, then I'm okay with it.

I too live in the Houston area Pearland so I'm glad to hear you are close and being well taken care of!
