  • Just for starters...

I have never really cared for DH's sister. She is always negative and a brat, a loser, I could go on. I have a niece or two that are, for lack of a better word, train wrecks, but I love them dearly. One of them is 24 and and came to the hospital to see me when I was in labor while MIL and SIL were there. My niece came up in a conversation at dinner with DH's family one night a few months ago and SIL said, "Is she the one that looks and dresses like a slut?" I thought I didn't quite hear her correctly so I asked her, " Excuse me. What did you just say?" She was like.     "Nothing."  I said, "That's what I thought because you don't want me to unleash what I think about you."  It got a little awkward and no one really talked much after that.

  • My SIL just seems to be unable to make up her mind on whether it's cool to speak to me or not. Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't. What she always does do though? Tries to one-up anything anyone says. It's exhausting, and makes me glad we only see them once in a blue moon.

  • Most of the time I try my best to ignore her out of respect for DH, but it was pretty early PP. I couldn't help it. She's a peach.

  • Jesse, that gave me chills it was so messed up! I guess after being the baby of 5, I've learned how to be mean. I wouldn't be able to contain myself in some of these situations you girls talk about.

  • Thankfully DH doesn't have any sisters, only brothers...however both my brothers are married. My one SIL is a real peach. She was the 1st one to marry into our family, the 1st one to have a grandchild...the 1st one to do/have lots of things. So whenever something happens to one of us, she always tries to up us. It always has to be about her. This year for their Christmas card, their were 5 pictures. 1 picture was of my brother. The other 4 pictures were after my SIL had completed one of her many runs that she did this year. My 3 nieces were also included in those 4 photos. However, 1 of them was either crying, hiding or looking the other way in each photo. And the 1 photo of my brother is absolutely horrible! It was from a camping trip this summer and there is smoke in the picture from the bon fire and my brother was probably a little tipsy as well. My sisters husband can't stand her. He has no problem letting her know that he doesn't get along with her. I wish I was more brave like him LOL

  • Great idea! My SIL is trash. In and out of rehab, stealing money and jewlery from family for drugs. All of her bills are in collection agencies. She's a pathological liar. MIL and fil pay all her bills, make excuses for her, and are so manipulated by her. Even DH believes her shiiit sometimes. I can't take it. I'm thankful I really only see her a few times a year. I hope she gets healthy but I really have had enough of her crap. She's 25, time to grow up!

  • My SIL is like my best friend so this may be odd here, but in some ways we struggle. When my baby shower was being planned she told the host to change the date because another friend's birthday party was the same day. I told the host to do it to save the peace. Later, still before the shower, I was at her house and this friend showed up. My SIL then tells this friend, "I made them change their party just for you!" I wanted to cry. Way to make us feel so important.

She wanted to be in there when Nat was born. I was still pissed so I didn't call her until afterwards. She didn't even know I was in labor. She was upset with me for months. Probably still is. But I don't regret it. I've made her and their family a priority over the years. If she can't do the same then she isn't close enough to be in the delivery room.

I would cut someone if they talked about my nieces that way. Well done.

And this post is one reason I am glad DH is an only child...if we were telling BIL stories, though...I could go on forever  ;)
