Oh my word. This may possibly be long.
Dh was in the field behind our house cutting firewood when Lj and I got in from nanny house. We came in the house, grabbed a snack and sat down for about 15 minutes then we went outside to play. When Lj saw dh in the field we went and said hello then came back to her play area in the yard. We have several oak trees in our yard so I began raking as Lj ran around playing. Then I hear a vehicle pull up and it's mil&fil. I held onto Lj until they stopped and got out then let her go and continued raking. I continuously hear "Aren't you cold", "Oh baby, you're cold" from il's to Lj. It was 52 degrees, Lj had on fleece pants, a long sleeve fleece top and a winter coat, thick socks and boots. She may be chilly on her face/hands but she was ok. She wanted to be outside to play...I mean what else can I do? This aggravated me but I let it go.
Fil comes around to the rear of the shop where mil & Lj are and goes over to our dogs fence. He begins whistling for the girls (my furbabies, they are "my girls"). Our entire backyard is fenced in and we have 2 outside dogs. A few weeks back our girls got out. One immediately came back but the other ran around with the neighbors dog for a few hours. Once we got her back we decided to put a small electric wire around the bottom part of the fence so they wouldn't be tempted. So fil stands by the fence and calls the girls over ON PURPOSE. I started telling the girls no, and not to come over there but naturally they came to the man calling. One of the dogs tried to jump up on the shoulder of our other dog to prop up to get some "lovin'" and the other dog stepped back and the other fell onto the electric wire, straddling in. She cried and was stuck for a few seconds because of the shock. I started yelling at fil. He kept laughing and said " Shouldn't they know by now not to get close to the fence?". I was livid. I kept telling him that he should be ashamed and told him that it wasn't right to taunt an animal like that knowing what was going to happen. What made it worse was that Lj was out there with us and she saw him do that. When she went to look for the crying dog fil laughed and said "Oh look, she's trying to find her."
Fast forward, dh came back up to the house. He hadn't seen anything that happened. Mil wanted to know if we wanted to go eat or if Lj could go with them, and I said no. I left dh outside with Lj and came in. A few moments later he came in and told me that he had gotten into it with his dad. Fil said that he had made me mad and explained what happened. He said "I didn't tell the dogs to touch the fence". Really? I don't know what is so funny about it, but I'm D.O.N.E with that man.
End note; our dogs are very loved. That is why we have an electric fence to keep them fenced and away from the road. The one who got caught in the fence was abused as a puppy. It has taken 3 years for her to even come near us to be petted. She loves playing with Lj though, I think since she isn't as big or scary. We do regularly get our girls out to play , our neighbors dog is just bad news and we don't like the idea of them roaming.

Re: I yelled at fil.
So uncalled for. I would be pissed too. Has he not heard of animal cruelty? I guess he like to torture animals. Just wrong! Sorry I love animals and that just pissed me off.
Sending your pup some love.
Oh, you ladies have no idea. Last year our cat got out and crawled into the motor of my vehicle. I made it a mile down the road before she tried to escape and got very badly hurt. We had to have her put down. Dh told mil&fil not to mention it to me because of my guilt. As soon as we pulled up at the il's house fil walked out to the front of my vehicle and began meowing. He has no heart...
