Special Needs

***smisch51***

Hey honey!  I was informed by a fellow local nestie of mine that your son is on dialysis and will need a kidney transplant.  My son, Max, spent 6 months in the hospital and is now home and doing great.  He is on hemo dialysis 4 times a week for 2.5 hours each time (we go to our local children's hospital for this).  Max will be getting a transplant somewhere around his 1 year birthday.  My DH and I just got tested last week to see if we are potential donors for him.  My email address is Livingston318@yahoo.com.  Please email me and I will tell you more about our personal experience with the whole process.  I will answer any and all of your questions that best that I can.  I am here to help you, because not many people have experience with this and I would have killed to have someone to talk to in the beginning.

I also read your post about your husband leaving you.  Honey, I am so sorry that this is all happening to you.  Please, make sure you gather a good support system to stand by you.  I'm not going to lie and say that it's an east road because it's not.  You are going to need help and personally you don't need someone in your life like your DH that is negative and not willing to accept and love his son the way that he is.  My son is my hero for all that he has been through in his short 7 months of life and I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Please contact me so that we can talk.  My heart just aches for you.  I look forward to talking with you in the future.  Hang in there for your little boy.  He needs his mommy to be strong so that he can be strong and fight through this.

  • By the way, Cody is beautiful!!!

Your bio brought tears to my eyes.  It brought back so many memories of my 13 weeks on bedrest.  It sounds like Max and Cody had the same thing- posterior urethral valves.  I can't wait to talk with you more.

  • Beth-

I am so glad to find you!  I have followed Max's story from the beginning, and want you to know your family is still in my thoughts!  I haven't seen your posts on 0-6 or 6-12 (if you've been there), but I am so glad to hear that things are going well for your amazing little boy.
