Weekend away - WWYD?

My BIL and his wife want to have DS1 come stay the weekend sometime in the near future.  They are the ones who watched him when I was in the hospital and I guess now they want to spend some more time with him and also give us a little break as well.

They live about 2 1/2 hours away and are more than capable of taking excellent care of him.  We stayed with them over Christmas and DS had a blast playing with their dog as well.  DS has been around them enough that they aren't strangers to him, yet it's not like he sees them all the time.  He seemed to do great while they were here with him recently though.

Hubs is ready to send the kid tomorrow. Haha.  I of course am being mom and don't know if I'm ready for him to be gone for a whole weekend.  He stayed overnight at a friend's house back in August for a wedding, but other than that he's never been away from us.  Do I need to pull the stick out of my azz and just say ok? BIL and SIL absolutely adore him and I know they would take great care of him.

  • I say give it a try! I think that first overnight-er will be hard on mommy no matter when it happens

  • I tend to be positive for others :D I say give it a go. Worse thing is you pick him up lol.

I am freaking out just to leave L with one of our close friends/like family come DH's surgery.

  • That is hard, but I agree with Duff. The worse that could happen is that you have to drive a couple hours to pick him up. And... Think how nice it will be to have some sweet quiet moments with the baby!

  • Do it! Max will h e an awesome time. You spent half of your post convincing us that you are confident that max will have a good time. You sound confident in their abilities to care for him. Do it!!

We are leaving Ian at my mom's this weekend for 3 nights. It's the longest we have been away. I am ready and excited and a tiny bit nervous. A whole weekend away....! Just think about all the snuggling in bed you can do with a newborn. Do it!!

  • Go for it Mama! I've left my Max with my inlaws for 1-2 nights lots of times. Especially now that they eat more food and can communicate better, it is worth a try! And if he does it once and it works out well, you can do it again down the road and it will be way easier!
