My LO just turned 6 months and I'm starting to wean her because I keep getting mastitis. Anyway...she hasn't had the bottle all that much in about a month because I needed to nurse due to the mastitis. So now she won't take a bottle. I've tried a couple different kinds and even tried to introduce a sippy cup.
Any suggestions? I'm weaning super slowly (dropping one feeding per week) and this is the first week. She's only missing one feeding and she's doing well on solids, so I'm not concerned that she's going hungry or anything. She has been constipated, I think because she hasn't gotten as many liquids...so anyway, that's my situation.
Any/all suggestions welcome!
Re: Bottle/sippy cup tips
I just went to a solid foods class which was conducted by the lactation consultant for the hospital where the class was held.
She said it is ok to give about 2 finger widths of water in a sippy cup, but she recommends the type with the hard plastic mouth piece rather than the soft mouth piece. She said that she also takes the valve out of the sippy cup at first.
The reason she does not recommend the soft mouth piece is because they have to bite it, which means he/she might start biting you while nursing!
