Totally NBFR: Poms vs Aussies

I have a problem. I love to argue with people. Especially when I know I am right, and often over stupid subject that should not be a big deal. It is a terrible flaw, I know. I am not proud. So flame if you must.
MIL has a pomerian. And she insists that her pom is a blue merle like her brother's Australian shepherd because "Pomerians are descended from Aussies."
But they are not!
The only way that her dog is related to an Aussie is that the merle coloring introduced to pomerians recently by inscrupulous breeders who breed for consumer attraction and uniqueness rather than to uphold a standard that has been around since before Queen Victoria. The blue merle coloring does not come from the original gene pool.
That being said, I don't even like purebreds. I like mutts, myself. But I do love genetics and animal reproduction. So I could go on for hours about this when it does not matter one little bit. But I will cut myself short.
Ok. Vent over. As I said. I have a serious problem. And the fact that my relationship with MIL is getting worse doesn't make this any better or rather this doesn't make our relationship better. But I have finally decided to go back to counseling for myself and my super situation controlling ways.

When I know I'm right and people are going on about something stupid and not correct, even if its a small thing, it drives me crazy. This happens with politics a lot. Uneducated people take a peices of propaganda they saw on Facebook or some t.v. commercial and they just run with it without knowing the facts behind it. I just want to scream "YOU ARE SUCH A DUMBASS!"
Amen! That's why even when I don't agree with the president or Congressman or whoever, I always not only watch what they say on TV or read the articlesabout them but also try to find the exact transcripts of speeches and the actual bills that are signes in, etc. I can't keep up with all of them, of course, but I don't say much about anything involving any sort of policy until I have done my research.
I think one of our nation's biggest problems is bandwagon thinking and failure to selfeducate in subjects of importance such as policy forget politics.
I came into this thread to find out what kind of hat an "Aussie" was, picturing Crocodile Dundee's hat or something and wondering why that would be vs. a pom pom hat.
I clearly know nothing of dogs, but thanks for the education!
