LO has developed some chest and/or nasal congestion. It doesn't happen
all the time, but sometimes when he breathes it makes the sound similar
to what an adult would make if they had phlegm stuck in their throat and
were trying to breathe (kind of like a wet rattling). It doesn't seem
to especially bother him but it kind of freaks me out because it sounds
so horrible. He coughs and sneezes occasionally, but not frequently
enough for me to worry about that specifically (a few times a day,
maybe). No fevers, he's eating fine, doesn't seem more irritated than
usual, and he breathes fine when he's asleep (no snoring or wheezing,
and he has slept elevated since he was about 4 days old because he'd
scream bloody murder if we laid him flat). I've started running the
humidifier. Any other suggestions? Is it concerning enough to take him
to the pedi and get him checked out? Thanks in advance!
Re: Congestion (XP to 0-3 Months)
This is exactly what the nurse at our pedi office told me when I called today since LO is experiencing a stuffy nose and trouble breathing because of it. I was told as long is there is no fever and cough then to not bring her in b/c they don't want to expose her to other germs.
We have been using the saline nose drops and humidifier today. She is already doing so much better just from that.
Don't use the spray yet, as it's not recommended until 6 months or so. You want the saline DROPS!
We also use the Vicks plug ins in our bedroom to help w/sleeping.
