New & Miserable- TMI?

Hello Ladies,

I'm new to these boards (although I enjoyed TheKnot boards).

A little background:  TTC for 7 months, diagnosed with PCOS 2 months ago and currently 9dpo on my first cycle of clomid.

My issue:  Last week I got a uti, went to a CVS minute clinic since it was the only thing open and got an antibiotic and diflucan to prevent yeast infection- both of which I've taken and tolerated in the past with no problem.

5 days after my initial visit to CVS I experienced pretty intense vaginal itching and my CM went from creamy to creamy/watery to watery.  It was the weekend so once again my Dr wasn't open and I headed to the local Planned Parenthood to see if I had a yeast infection.  I had absolutely nothing wrong- no yeast- no bacteria.  Also, I've been tested for everything under the sun about 4 times in as many months.

This morning I woke up at 7am (not normal for me) because I am soooo uncomfortably itchy, my blatter is also irritated (not in pain like a uti- but I feel like I need to go constantly)

I'm calling my RE as soon as they open but 2 days ago I was told I had nothing wrong at all.

Anyone have any idea whats going on?  OR how to get some relief?  I'm miserable!!!

TIA

  • Welcome and I am sorry for what you are dealing with. I wish I had some insight but I don't unfortunately..hopefully your RE will have some answers and you may want to call your primary care dr as well. GL and hope you feel better soon.

  • Ok, this is going to sound totally ridiculous but could you have dry skin? I live in a dry climate and my skin is very dry - especially this time of year. Occasionally I'll get super itchy down yonder with no yeast infection, UTI, or anything else. I'll put a little lotion on and that fixes the problem so I assume it's just dry skin. Your bladder being irritated is probably left over from the UTI. I haven't had one for years but I remember feeling that way for a while after the antibiotics - not pain just more aware and a little uncomfortable. I would absolutely call and see your RE or OB though! I'm sure they could figure it out.
  • Thanks ladies, I'm waiting for them to call me back.  Depending on what they say I may call my urologist because I have had resistance to antibiotics with uti's in the past.

What type of lotion do you use?  I think I'm afraid to put anything down there!  Allergic reaction crossed my mind (because I'm allergic to everything) but the only things that have been recently introduced to my diet/environment are the clomid and metformin, I've been taking the metformin for a month and a half so I don't think it would be that.

Hopefully my RE calls back soon!

  • Your UTI may be resistant to the type of antibiotics you were prescribed at CVS.  I would ask your doctor to do a urine.  When the culture comes back it might show you need a different antibiotic.  Happened to me recently.  I hope you get it figured out and get some relief soon!

  • Oh- also random dit bit that made me think it might be allergy- My skin is itchy from my about my belly button to underwear line.  I did take benedryl  the night before last and felt better the following day (tummy was still itchy though).

AND generally with a uti or yeast infection if I take a shower I feel better.  This morning when I was rudely awoken by this uncomfortableness the shower did not help. :/

  • Thanks cupcake- you may be right (although I hope not!)  But I will be having someone with more expertise test my urine ASAP to see if that's the case.

Still doesn't explain the random itchiness though-

  • Clomid can do weird things to you. I'm guessing it's a combo of UTI/YI + Clomid. I hope you feel better soon!

  • I use Cetaphil because I find it to be non-irritating. I have sensitive skin too. Did you change your laundry detergent or anything? I would rewash your undies and use a very sensitive lotion on the outside areas only! It sounds like you need a different antibiotic for the UTI. The itchies could actually be the result of the antibiotics. I don't know what it was but whatever they gave me while I was under at ER made me itchy like no other! They had to give me a shot of antihistamines because of it.
  • Welcome!  I don't know much about your issue but just wanted to introduce myself - fellow PCOSer here!  Good luck - keep us updated!

  • So, my Dr still hasn't called back- I'm happy this isn't an actual emergency otherwise I'd be pretty upset.

However, I did decide to use my Astepro (Nasal antihistamine that works in minutes)  and I started to feel better shortly after.

I have absolutely NO idea what it might be but I am allergic to the world so I'll try and figure it out while keeping my nasal spray near by.

Thank you all for your support, it was a rough morning so I really appreciate it!

  • Hi NYCGal!  Nice to meet another PCOSer I was diagnoised in early december and did BC for a month a single large cyst.

I was reading your siggy- whats the benefits of the baby asprin and vit D?

    Currently I'm taking:

500mg Metformin 3xday (most amazing stuff ever)
    Astepro Nasal Spray at night
    5mg Levocetirizine 1xday (antihistamine)
    Prenaltal Vit 3xday
    Theracran 2xday

I'm on cycle CD 25/ 9DPO on my first cycle of clomid at 50mg

  • Update:  I went to my urologist today.  My uti never went away-  I'm on a new antibiotic and feel SO much better.  I also passed a small kidney stone- blah.  Thank you ladies for your support
