So I went today for my first biophysical profile, which involved a nonstress test. However, I found the nonstress test to be extremely stressful. I brought a book my iPod, but it was nearly impossible to concentrate on anything other than obsessing over the fetal heart rate. I spent the entire hour worrying about every little dip, spike and lack of change in the heart rate.
By the time it was over, I felt totally wrung out, exhausted, and all over crappy. I just can't imagine how I'm going to do this every week for the next 8 weeks.
I'm thinking about asking them to turn off the sound and turn the screen so that I can't see it next time. Has anyone else dealt with anxiety during fetal monitoring? What did you do? Any ideas for taking your mind off the test?
