Hi Ladies. At my daughter's 6mo appointment the dr asked how much she was eating during the day (which I knew was coming, so I was prepared). I repsonded with 5 bottles of 4oz a piece and she was getting half a container of cereal, and then a whole fruit and half fruit during the day. She was fine with the solids and told me to keep the fruits and veggies the same since I split them btw lunch and dinner but to bump up the breakfast to a whole 3.5oz. Then to take away one 4 oz bottle. My dd was measuring and weighing in around a 9 month old. She hasn't had any issues adjusting by any means.
I guess what I'm wondering is is it okay to start giving her more food? This all seems so much more confusing than just giving her bottles!

DS is 7.5 months old and I've been feeding him 3x a day solids:
breastfeed first thing in the morning
4 oz bottle
breakfast: 3 tbsp cereal, 2 oz fruit, 4 oz bottle
lunch: 2 oz veg, 2 oz protein (e.g. chicken & noodles), 4 oz bottle
4 oz bottle
breastfeed a little once I come home from work
dinner: 2 tbsp cereal, 2 oz veg, 2 oz fruit
4 oz bottle
I told pedi and she had no trouble with our schedule.
We are almost completely on solids, under guidance of the pedi. We are giving:
6 oz of cereal a day, split between 3 meals
12 oz of purees, split between 3 meals
4 oz of solid foods (2 snacks), either diced fruit/veggie, pasta or something else new
6 oz of diluted juice or water (I usually alternate)
16 oz formula (used to be bm, till I ran dry) split between 3 bottles
sippy cup of water during snacks. maybe 2 oz a day?
Her typical day looks like this...
cereal, puree, and formula bottle
snack and sippy
cereal, puree, and juice bottle
snack and sippy
cereal, puree, and formula bottle
formula bottle
Thank you so much for posting this! I thought I was going crazy with how she was eating and I guess I just needed reassurance that I was doing the right things with her.
