Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Switching back and forth with formulas?

LO has been taking Nutramigen since she was around 3 months old because of a dairy allergy. Recently her doctor had me try Enfamil to see if her allergy was gone. She's fine with the Enfamil now and has been taking that for about two weeks. I still have about 6 smaller cans of Nutramigen left and I dont want to waste. Is it okay to go back to the Nutramigen and then back to the Enfamil again?
When I switched her this past time she didn't get an upset stomach or anything. She wasnt pooping as regularly, but she's still pooping at least every other day, she used to poop 3 times a day though ha

  • I love the picture of your daughter! She is beautiful!

Now to the question, I switched my daughter a bunch of times and she always did pretty good with it. If your LO didn't get any upset stomachs or have any bathroom issues then I think it is fine. Just don't be surprised if she has a little tummy trouble!

My LO was switched to Nutramigen at 4 months (b/c of a suspected dairy allergy) and it did clear up his 'rash'. I've introduced dairy products recently (yogurt) and haven't seen any changes with him (i.e. his skin) so I'm not really sure he needs to still take Nutramigen.

I should try Enfamil Gentlease again...you've set off my light bulb!
