Hi ladies,
I was told by some of my Nest buddies to head over here to talk to you all. My daughter was just diagnosed with milk intolerance on Monday (we aren't sure about soy yet.) I am BFing and cutting out all obvious and hidden dairy (hidden dairy is hard!) We're starting with dairy, will see if there's an improvement,a nd if not, I will cut out soy, too. There's been no change yet. I've been told it can take weeks. I still have a call into a pediatric GI doctor, just in case (waiting to hear back.)
Can you share your MSPI resources with me? As far as meals go, I think we're pretty ok, but I can always use new ideas (I don't cook with dairy, unless we're counting eggs, which some websites are and some aren't. So confusing!) I've switched to almond milk. My biggest problem is snacking - I'm a big snacker, especially sweets. I've found an MSPI website with decent snacks to make, so I'll have to get on that. I'd LOVE to find a comprehensive list of pre-made foods that I can buy while I transition into this new diet.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. My younger sister was MSPI and almost died from it (she was not BFed, however, but formula fed and it took months before doctors could find a formula her body would tolerate.) My sister never fully grew out of it - milk and soy still bother her stomach and she became a vegan later in life. My daughter is still willing to nurse. I just feel so bad because she's incredibly stuffed up/congested, I've noticed baby acne starting to form on her face, it's incredibly hard for her to pass her bowels, and when she does . . . they just look like they hurt! (Green, chunky, mucousy, bloody, etc.)
I hope to stick around and learn a lot from you ladies!

Hi there. I post a check in on Mondays for MSPI Moms. I post it on the bf'ing board and also post the link to it over here. I had to cut dairy and soy (and nuts) for DD2. It took about 5 weeks for her symptoms to clear up, so yes, give it some time. DD2 just turned 1, and I've been able to add in some foods with dairy/soy in them, and she seems to be tolerating it fine, so hopefully she's outgrowing her MSPI.
You can check out the MSPI posts on our blog: mspimoms.blogspot.com. Here's one where we specifically talk about MSPI friendly packaged foods:
