The Little Gym

Has anyone tried classes with LO at The Little Gym? Currently we go to Gymboree but our favorite teacher is leaving and our Gymboree is under new ownership so it's just not the same. What are the membership fees like? Tell me all about it if you have been to The Little Gym good and bad. TIA :)

Re: The Little Gym

  • I'm still contemplating doing it, the next "semester" of classes starts 2/1. It's about $350 for the classes. I'm not sure how much the membership fees are or what they do, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be worth it at this point for us.

I'll be lurking to see if anyone else has experience with them.

  • Also would love to hear what others have to say about this. They just opened a The Little Gym about 20 minutes from us and I keep going back and forth about signing DD up. It does seem a bit pricey, but I really want to get her in something like that. I also feel like their website doesn't describe the classes very well, so I'd love to hear what others think about it!

  • I just looked on their website and there are none in our area Sad

  • I did one with DD.  While she had a great time I really felt like I had been robbed.

We instead bought a bounce house and she had just as much if not more fun playing in that with us and with her baby friends (I consulted back in the day and actually had a social life and friends...my how times change...)

  • We have one by us, the facility is beautiful!!!!!!  However, we went for a birthday party and the teachers were sooooo annoying.  They were also very discheveled looking.  Wasn't impressed, they did have a bubble room which was quite neat.  If they replaced the workers at the one by me, I'd so go.

  • I LOVE our Little Gym.  I signed up last winter for something to do with my (then) 3 year old and a newborn and it has been a fantastic experience- we actually just added another class for this spring so she is taking gymnastics and a dance class.

The teachers are wonderful and Lily LOVES them.  Yes, they don't dress up for the classes (they wear sports/fitness clothing), but I wouldn't expect them to considering what they are doing all day.  They are kind and patient and I have never once heard them complain or raise their voices...and I spend a lot of time in the lobby where they chat while working at the desk.

I have only done the 4-10 month class a couple of times with Carly. I am not usually big on baby classes, but it is free when you have a sibling enrolled, so I figured what the heck?  I thought it was cute, but nothing I would pay $ for.

We are giving her the next class (10-19 months) for her birthday.  I think they are great with toddlers and am very much looking forward to it...and that is amazing because I am so not a class person.  What I loved most about Lily's class was that it was parent free over age 3.  ;b

Edit- Membership fees are comparable to other similar places.  You get a discount if you sign up early and a discount if you pay all at once...however, they do have a payment plan too.  For Lily I paid $325 for 20 weeks of classes for the first class and the second class was 20 percent off.  When I sign Carly up her class will be 10 percent off...and will be prorated because we will be starting a few weeks after the semester starts.
