Surrogacy in NY

I am currently pregnant with our second and last planned lol LO. My H and I have been talking about in about a year after this baby comes we would like to start looking into me becoming a gestational surrogate. With all the research I have been doing I have been getting my heart more and more set on this. I want to help someone have a baby and feel like this process would be really fulfilling. However, today instead of doing research on the physical and emotional aspects of surrogacy, I was looking into the legal. Surrogacy is completely illegal in New York State which is where I live. I am totally bummed about this.
The worst part is the next town over is NJ. H suggested we just move considering NJ is literally down the road.
From what I have read most of you have experience with DE and DS but it is along the lines of surrogacy so maybe someone has some insight.
I feel really strongly about this. I love my children more than life and it breaks my heart when I know or hear of people who struggle or can't have children. Thanks for reading and any input is welcome.

Thanks so much for the information. That is what I was reading about NY, and also how anyone involved in a surrogacy agreement can face fines up to 10,000!!! I am just so surprised because NY is not usually one of the more "conservative" states.
