MS what are your secrets?

I have always heard to drink Ginger Ale. However, I don't drink pop. I am looking for something else to drink... Not just advice on eating soda crackers or keeping bananas next to your bed. Has anyone found a beverage that isn't pop that seems to help with MS? My first food aversion is eggs...

  • someone posted about a non-soda ginger drink available at whole foods that worked wonders....I haven't made it to my local store yet, but this is it

Right now I'm just using ginger ale, but my MS is the worst between 4pm and 7pm, so my trick is doing some type of exercise/prenatal workout before the worst starts, usually keeps it away long enough to cook and eat dinner.

  • Cold food/drinks seem to really help.

Frozen fruit and ice water are my go to.

  • Chewing gum after meals for me. Iv heard ginger gum can help although it's expensive.

  • I sometimes take a half of a unisom at night (recommended by my dr.'s office). Sparkling lemon water helps too. Or sucking on lemon candy.

  • It seems like every time I start to get nauseated, even though it doesn't sound good to me at the time, if I just eat something small it goes away... Protein seems to help more than anything but even a fiber bar as soon as I get outta bed kept me feeling ok till I got to work... Now I have to eat something else :-(  I am definitely going to have to get some fruit and veggies this weekend or I'm in trouble!

  • I have been frinking lemon water - it is a life saver! also sucking on lemon drops candy, and Edy's fruit bar ice bars...the pineapple and the tangerine...I found Izze sparkling ginger at Whole Foods, it was the best so far, it is not too high in sugar, they use agave, and it has just the right amount of fizz...I also started taking my prenatal vit at night and it made a world of difference....

  • I haven't tried yet, but my herbal book suggested both Raspberry leaf infusion tea (small quantities, 1 cup/day) and nettle leaf infusion tea (as much as you want) for help with m/s.  I got the leaves in bulk from my local health food store.

  • Dried, candied ginger pieces help tons. I hate the taste, so I usually break off a little piece and just swallow it. It settles my tummy within minutes. Lifesavers wintergreen or peppermint to suck on, and ice water with a slice of lemon are a couple of things I always have on hand. Seabands have helped a lot too.

  • Sour "mints"- they're not minty at all, just sour.
