The saying "I hope you get to feeling better." I don't understand it. Why not "I hope you feel better soon"? This doesn't sound like proper grammar to me..?
"Can we go off topic for a minute" should have a questions mark and not a period.
My point is that there are just going to be grammatical errors that are made out there and you have to be willing to pick your battles.
I wasn't claiming to be fantastic with the English language myself. I was simply asking if the term is correct. I'm not battling anyone, I just wanted opinions.
Meh. You're probably right but I still say it. Grammar isn't my strong suit. I also think that expression is more common in the south.
Just like: "I'm fixin' to go to the store. I'll get your medicine so you can get to feeling better."
Or "Hey, I married my sister but it's okay because she's also my cousin." It's how we roll.
When you said that I thought about my cousins wedding I attended where the groom gave her a full on lap dance, down to his undies, she followed suit and they both jumped into the lake, in front of the whole family... I would rather they were sisterbrothercousins then see that again. :-)

It drives me nuts when people say, "me and (insert name)". It should be, "(Name) and I". This was drilled in to my head when I was a kid and now no one says it correctly anymore.
On a side note, my husband said fixin the other day. I pointed it out to him and he said it was time to move back north.
After reading this post, I've concluded that I must sound like Tow Mater to you all. [Look, I didn't put y'all.]
Yes, I did watch Cars today.
No no no you're fine! I don't mind ya'll actually. I realize everyone has different saying and what not. As long as you don't say "I'm finna go to the store." I don't know where that word came from.

I have never seen the end of Cars. One year I worked at a summer camp and the kids ALWAYS wanted to watch cars. But movie time was only an hour. To this day I have no idea if Lightning and Tomater bond or if the town is saved.

I'm guilty of some of this. I will say, I don't feel the need to be incredibly formal on here. If I write something for work or school, I check. On here, not so much.

It's really common here too, I've seen it a lot today... it's just driving me nuts!

"I am wanting to..."
Similar weird soundingness.
YES! What's wrong with "I want to" or even "I think I want to"
