Hi Ladies,
I was looking into purchasing a Britax car seat. I saw that there are different variations. I had a hard time finding the safety information on Britax models because under consumer reports they require you to pay in order to obtain the information.
Does anyone have experience with Britax?
What model of Britax is more recommended then the other?
Any links that you can recommend that list or discuss car seat safety?
Re: Would you recommend getting a Britax carseat?
All car seats have to meet minimum safety standards, so the party line is that no seat is safer than any other. We have a Britax Marathon and I generally like the seat. It was easy to install and has nice cushioning, but they have short shells. If your child is tall (my little guy is not), you may not be able to use the seat as long as you'd think based on the weight limits alone. I'd ask for car seat recommendations on the Nurseries and Baby Gear board.

This. We have the Marathon too. It's fine, as all car seats should be. I would just go with what fits in your vehicle. Also, if you travel, make sure it is FAA approved.
I do have one similar concern for my 3 year old. I think she'll be ok on the height and weight, but the crotch is becoming a problem. She has to sit perfectly straigh up or else I pinch her skin in the crotch belt area. She is constantly scream that it's too tight. I don't see any way to move the crotch belt further out. So, when we transition DD#2 to a convertible, she may get the marathon and we'll buy DD#1 something new.
Britax is consistently high rated by Consumer Reports and Baby Bargains. It's a very safe and very great car seat company.
I'm getting the Britax Boulevard!
Also, if you have amazon prime and amazon mom, some of the Britax carseats are 20% off on amazon right now! Way cheaper than BRU.
Consumer reports
We have a Britax Boulevard and love it; however, Britax seats are known to have shorter shells and less leg room than many other seats. My LO is a peanut so we should't have any issues, but if your child is taller (especially torso height) I would steer away from Britax.
The Diono Radian is mentioned a lot as a great seat because of its high height and weight limits as well as its low profile and the ability to easily fit 3 across if needed. Car-seat.org is a great site if you are trying to decide on the right carseat for your car.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Great information.
Thank you for posting the consumer reports!
