This is why I hate not being there for well check appointments

Mobile Bumpers: This is why I hate not being there for well check appointments

I couldn't take time off today, so DH took DD2 to her 18-month appointment.

He was sweet and wrote down he measurements and emailed them to me. I just checked and she really went down in percentiles.

Length-wise, she was at 90, and now is barely above 50.

Weight wise, she was at 75 and now is also barely above 50.

I know this could be nothing, but I wish I had been there just to see what my Dr thinks. Oh well.

  • It might not mean anything. Their growth isn't as rapid now that they are getting older. They eat differently and are much more active. I don't think you should worry, but if you must, I'd give a call to the pedi.

  • I'm sure she's fine - I just wish I'd been able to ask the Dr and hear it from her mouth - I would feel silly calling in just for that. I'll probably mention it at MY next appointment though, as we have the same Dr.

  • I'm sure DD2 is fine :).  My DD's height is maintaining, but her weight was waaaay down since the last checkup.  DH was super concerned (I was a little, too), but our pedi said that the weight gain can really slow up after the 1 year mark.  Also, with all the illness going around, I know her eating has been off from her usual intake, so that's something to take into account.

I totally get how you feel about not being at the appointment, though.  DH and I can sometimes take totally opposite perspectives about things our pedi says.  Things that I brush off as NBD are sometimes a big deal to him, and vice versa.  So if he were to come home and tell me everything is ok, I would still feel like I missed some critical information, even though I trust him entirely!
