2nd week back worst than 1st?

I went back to work last Monday after 13 weeks off. It was hard, but not completely the end of the world. I sit here tonight after 2 days off and all I can think is "oh crap, I have to do that all over again?" Sure it will be a little easier as I get into a pumping routine and I won't have as much catching up after 2 days as I did after 13 weeks, but I still have this horrible dread. It may be worse than the dread I felt last Sunday because at least I didn't entirely know what I was in for a week ago.

  • for me the 3rd week was the worst, because the excitement (of sorts) of getting back into work & a routine was gone, I'd gone out to lunch many times w/out someone spitting on me, I had talked to enough adults...and was thinking...crap, I really do have to work every.single.day!  But, it does get better!

  • Yes!  At first, it was nice to catch up with ppl and get excited about work.  Then, it became WORK again and leaving the baby and that sucked.  Now it's just what we do.  But it was hard to go back after 5 days off at Thanksgiving.
  • By the end of the first week, I stopped crying in the morning, but it was several weeks before I stopped getting upset on Sunday nights.   It's hard to let go when you get used being home again on the weekend.   But like the daily dread, the weekend dread goes away eventually too.  Hang in there.
  • I have been back for months and still get the Sunday blues. But once I get to work on Monday morning it is fine.
  • I still find Mondays difficult. I feel like I had no time with my son today, especially b/c I was home with him most of the week last week b/c he was sick. I'm not sure if Mondays will ever get any easier. Hopefully, your feeling better tonight. Hang in there!
