My DD is 6 months and I started her on rice cereal about 2 weeks ago and this week she started on solids which I am making at home!! (sweet potato so far, and moving to pears, apples, bananas over the next week or so). I read that I should still give her rice cereal in addition to fruits/veggies for the iron intake, and I am wondering 2 things: 1. do any moms out there feed both cereal and veggies/fruits throughout the day and when/how much and 2. do you ever combine rice cereal with a fruit or veggie and how do you do that? Do you make the rice cereal as you normally would and combine with pureed fruit/veggie OR do you just stir the rice cereal powder form (not mixed with Formula or BM) into the puree. That is what confuses me most (when they say, "cereal mixed with fruit or veggie).
I should preface that she is in daycare and I bring her around 8:30am. She is still just starting out but the whole "quantity of solids with the right variety for nutrients" is just so confusing to me thanks!!
