Starving?

I started having contractions last night. Off and on good ones that lasted 30-50 seconds every 5-10 mins. I fell asleep about 230am and they must've faded because I slept for an hour and a half straight and didn't wake up until my dog got sick. Cleaning dog poop up with a contraction was a new experience. The contractions now seem lighter and much less often which is a bummer, but I've noticed since 4am, I'm starving. Every hour I want food. Lots of food. I keep snacking and keeping it light like my doula said but I would kill for a giant turkey sub or something.

Any of you STMs had this happen? A stall out with the need to eat ALL the food?

I'm going to start walking and squatting and rolling on my yoga ball to try to get things moving, but I really just want to go eat. Again.

Re: Starving?

  • I did not eat lightly in labour. I ate what I wanted. I never puked. I never regretted my DQ Blizzard 5 hours before DS was born.

I say if you want to eat, eat.

  • I didn't want to eat anything, but then again--I never really had early labor.  I'd say follow your instinct and eat more if you need to!  I would keep it healthy and protein-heavy, but if you're feeling like you need a sandwich, you probably need more food!

  • I ate what I felt like eating. It kept up my energy for the long labor. My midwife suggested though, eat something that goes down easy, that could come up easy. So pasta, bread..

  • No experience with this because I went right into active labor and food never even crossed my mind but I say listen to your body. You will need energy for the hard work ahead. I say get your turkey sub, enjoy it, and then take a nap!

  • Still starving :)

Ended up in LD but sent home because I faded out again. I'm at 2-3 cm and 60& effaced. Need to kick start some contractions.
