Re: Um, really?

  • Weird.

I can see decorating a very pregnant belly with a welcome home message, but yeah, that's kind of trashy.

  • As far as the Benedryl post... I'm in the 'don't ever drug your child, unless they are an absolute terror on the plane, and you must go somewhere that is a crazy long flight, it probably wouldn't hurt to have some in your carry on'.

  • I fully admit I will have Benadryl in my bag when we fly from NY to London in march. Because....you never know. Flame away.

WTF DH. You are leaving for a bachelor trip today until Sunday. Skiing in the Swiss alps. I will be home with our sick, cranky baby, and you can't even put him down your last night, because you're tired? Really? You couldn't sleep on your stupid flight? Yes I'm cranky. I give huge credit to all single and military moms, you guys are amazing.

  • I had a friend draw on my arm with sharpie in high school, it's not too hard to get off. Besides its winter and its on her belly, not like she'll be wearing a bathing suit anytime soon.

As for the benedryl, no thanks. I don't ever give my kids meds they don't need.

I don't think benadryl us recommended for infants under 12 months and if this would be the first time you use it, what would you do if LO had an adverse reaction during the flight?

That and a good chuck of kids actually have the opposite reaction.  Instead of being knocked out they get hyped up and anxious.  Wouldn't test it out for the first time on a flight.  If you are seriously considering I would talk to your pedi to get the a-okay and an appropriate dose. Then I would test it out before you are on the plane in case LO decides to freak out instead of pass out.

    All of this.

i already asked my pedi and they actually suggested a half dose. I would never do anything like that without asking. I would also probably not do it if he hadn't taken it already to test it. I think if things are done carefully and after checking with a pedi, it's not as awful as people say. I agree with pp. why should the whole flight listen to your screaming baby for a six hour flight if you can do something safe to help. To each their own.
