No bedtime routine

Is there anyone else that doesn't have a bedtime routine with LO?  We've never needed one as she puts herself to sleep around 9 and STTN.  She will either fall asleep on us, in the swing, or in the RnP if we put her in (where she sleeps at night).

Is this going to be an issue later?  Do I need to start a routine now or can I wait until she seems to start needing one?   I don't want to do a bath every night so there doesn't seem to be much else now that is routine that LO would understand as bedtime.

I could have wrote this post.  I think we're doing just fine without one.  Enjoy!  Him falling asleep on me is one of my favorite things!

  • We have a very basic routine: Jammies, swaddle, and bedtime bottle (with pacifier for one of my boys; the other doesn't care for them). Kids don't care if you stand on your head with a complicated bedtime routine every night, they just need some consistency of doing the same things at around the same time. For some people that's bath, books, etc. etc., but it can be as simple as sitting down to nurse in the rocker, or swaddling and cuddling, etc.

  • We don't with DD2 and didn't with DD1 until she started to act like she needed one (which IIRC was between 6-9 months).  She falls asleep on her own between 9-10 downstairs with DH or I.  When we head up to bed a few hours later I take her up with us.  It wasn't an issue for DD1 to not have a routine and she didn't struggle once we started one.

  • We don't have one she usually goes down around 9ish, usually falling asleep on daddy and then we put her in the crib and she stays there until 2ish and then I bring her to bed. If I was working I think we would definitely need a routine

  • We don't really have one either - not a strict one anyway.  The time they go to bed is more important to me than the routine itself.  We do a bath every other night but sometimes we will go two days and then do a bath.

  • We have no real schedule with her but DS has a super strict one since he's in school and she usually goes does within an hour after him on her own.
