Since I still have about 12 days of the 2ww, I need to hear some success stories of IUI - how many follicles and what was your sperm count? i only had one follicle and although they told me the sperm count was "good" the internet is telling me otherwise...I just need to hear happy success stories

Also did you try yourself after the procedure? We did that night but now I'm thinking we should have the following night too....

Since our IUI was such a blur and my BFP kinda overshadowed everything, I can give you a lot of the details but lacking a few. I only had one folli that my OB measured as 2mm which was their requirement to go through with an IUI. I have PCOS, so there were plenty of cysts but only one that would even qualify. DH has low count, low morph, and low motility so we were dealing with the proverbial cr-p shoot. I don't remember his count that day, but with all of those hurdles he had a decent number that day after the wash and a few weeks later I was suffering symptoms. Since mine was done by my OB's office, I didn't have the 2ww but more was waiting for AF to show her ugly head which would signal me starting the Femara again on days 3-7 to try again. However, 1st IUI... and it stuck! I went a week and a half with many symptoms and because I couldn't bring myself to test (due to the multitude of disappointments from BFNs for 3+yrs) I wouldn't let myself believe it until the dreaded m/s hit me one night after dinner. I finally sucked it up being less than a week before AF should arrive (I was roughly 3.5wks along when the symptoms started and my average cycle was 35 days on the Femara) and had DH buy some tests when he got off of work since he works 3rd shift. Took the test the next morning, got my BFP and spent a good 2mins staring in disbelief before telling DH and bawling like a baby. I took another 2 tests that day to try to rule out a fluke (there were 3 in the box he bought) and even went so far with my disbelief that I had him buy another brand and took 2 more (because why trust one brand? Lol). Here I am now, just hit 3rd tri recently and have a perfectly healthy baby with having had a mostly smooth and normal pregnancy (even though I've spent most of it worrying and panicking with all the IF fears). Only thing that's still up in the air in terms of issues, I'm measuring a little ahead and I have an u/s at my next appointment to verify his growth. So, I may have a big boy on my hands... I think I can handle that just fine!
I really hope that this helps to inspire hope for you and I'll be keeping my FX for you to have a sticky baby! T&Ps coming your way and GL!
Positive for HLA-B27, I'm a mutant
Testing - Me ok, gluten issue? DH - borderline count, low motility

Yeh, he obviously wasn't our problem. I'm pretty sure it was in the 140s but I can't remember. That just goes to show you that sperm count isn't everything because he was never below 89mil. My clinic says they look for anything over 2mil and I've seen people get pregnant with even less so you just never know.

For our successful IUI cycle we almost didn't go through with it. My numbers were pretty crappy and I only had one mediocre follie...was it really worth the money? DH had no sperm problems so that wasn't a concern for us. We did BD a couple of times but nothing too overboard since I didn't have any faith in the cycle, but couldn't handle NOT doing it, KWIM? At 14pIUI I POAS and it was negative as I expected. Then a week later AF was late and I assumed it was more cysts, and shockingly it was a BFP. I still can't believe how close we were to canceling the cycle!
ETA - the day I triggered my one single follie was only at 19. Not such a great number, but apparently it did the trick. Remember, you don't need a whole bunch to get a BFP - just one can work.
Hi! I posted the same exact post last week in my 2WW haha! Our IUI was on Sunday, January 13. I had an u/s the day before and had one follie at 25, sperm count was really good. I did femara days 3-7, and IUI was done day 13 of my cycle with no trigger, I had a natural surge day before IUI. I was bummed bc we didn't try ourselves because I was worried about his count being good etc. So, we only did the IUI.
I can very CAUTIOUSLY tell you we are hopefully a success story...I tested last night at 9 dpiui/dpo and got a BFP. I didn't believe it so took another test this morning with another BFP. I havent even told DH yet, because I still don't believe it myself, and he told me to wait until AF was due...yeah right!
This was our third IUI, first ended in m/c and second was too soon after my hyst/lap surgery and my body wasn't quite ready. FX this is your cycle, I had already convinced myself this IUI didn't work for us, but hoping it did! Hang in there, and good luck to you!!!
First RE appointment 4/2011
MFI = Low count + low T = Varicocele surgery 2007 + Clomid 2011
FFI = Ovarian dysfunction + Abnormal shaped uterus 2011
IUI#1 & 2= bfn
Lap + Hysterscopy = all clear
Last IUI 6/30/12... Femara + Follistim + Pregnyl + Progestrone supp. = BFP
Beta #1= 58.8 Beta #2 = 1,489.6 Beta #3 = 13,112.3 Beta #4 = 62,727.7 ... No more betas
2nd u/s = baby & heartbeat @ 6 wks 3 ds
It's a girl!
Oh i hope this is it for you!!! My follicle was also ~ 25. Fingers crossed!!!
I was on 50 mg clomid for a luteal phase defect (ovulating fine on my own, just not a long enough LP). Since I'm over 35, my RE thought IUI would give us our best chance. Didn't have to do any trigger shot, so we didn't check follicles. IUI #1 was a success, I'm currently 8w 4d with twins. Sperm count was 33 million.
The very best of luck to you!
Thank you!!! Sending good vibes and thoughts your way!!!!
I'm new on this board, so tentatively writing as I am still trying to work out some of the abbreviations LOL. However just wanted to let you know this post and most of the others have really inspired me.
I'm looking into the possibility of having the IUI procedure...although my OBN advised my age of '39' is against me. Lets hope he's wrong and it'll work God willing.
