My little man has been sick since Friday, fever, cough, runny nose, the works. Took him to the doctor only to be told that, of course, it is a virus and we have to wait it out. Well, I've been washing my hands so much they are raw, using enough Lysol to be considered a sterile environment by the CDC, and yet I still woke up this morning with a scratchy throat. JOY! Since I can't take any "real" medicine, looks like chicken soup and hot tea (decaf of course) for me for the next few days. Might call my OB to see if there is anything else I can do that I'm missing. Anybody else out there with any good ideas? Hope you all are staying healthy! Being sick while you are pregnant stinks!

Re: DS is sick, so it was only a matter of time
Yep. This is a familiar scenario for us too. My daughter caught another virus last week, and I'm sick now. I find a sinus rinse is a good med-free way to help with congestion....if you are completely blocked off it doesn't help though. I found this at a local pharmacy, but you could also use a neti pot.
Do call your doctor's office. Mine does approve sudafed, but I take it as an absolute last resort.
I hope you feel better soon.

I feel ya! My daughter was sick with a high fever and vomiting late last week. That lasted about 3 days. I don't seem to have caught that, but I did catch a cold, and I've noticed she's coughing now, so I guess she has that too. I can't wait for winter to be over! These kids are just little petri dishes lol. My doctor also says Sudafed is OK (the original formulation, the kind they now hide behind the pharmacist's counter, not the new "ephedrine-free" version). And you can only get the regular dosage not the 12- or 24-hour timed release pills. Still, it helps a lot. In the past I've also tried a netipot, but I didn't like it too well. It might be worth a try though if you've never tried it. Good luck and let's all look forward to spring coming soon!
