Little man just started rolling over from back to front really well and is now trying it out in his crib at night. I was a little nervous before we went to bed last night because he flipped to his tummy when he fell asleep (I check on him and kiss his monitor goodnight before I go to sleep). I don't even know what time it was, but his Angelcare alarm went off. I raced out of bed, and it stopped just before I opened his door. The light was still blinking red (usually it blinks green every time it registers a movement but blinks red if the alarm goes off).
He was breathing and warm, thank goodness!!! ...but still on his stomach, so I was able to turn him over on his back without him waking all the way up. We had no more alarms for the rest of the night, and somehow I was able to go back to sleep.
I've shared this on my birth month board because we had discussions about whether or not to use the alarms. This is our 3rd time the alarm has gone off. Each time I haven't been able to be sure that it was a false alarm. I have a feeling that the loud noise is jarring him back awake. I'm still so glad we got this. My baby brother died of SIDS when he was 3 months old (I was 7 years old), and the day he passed away is a flashback memory for me. When our little man was on his stomach and that alarm went off, it was really tough...I got really emotional when I came back to bed last night. I'm saying lots of extra prayers this morning that my sweet baby is safe and we have another day on this earth together.
Hold your sweet ones tight! I'm thanking our amazing Lord for all of them and all of you! Thanks for all of your support and wonderful advice so far. You are some amazing and sweet ladies! )
Re: Angelcare Alarm went off :o(
I know...I've said from the beginning - I'd rather have a false alarm than no alarm at all...

I also had a sister who died of SIDS at 3 months and was so happy to find a monitor like this. I was even more happy later when my daughter REFUSED to sleep on her back. I went through several agonizing nights before letting her sleep the way she wanted and trusting the monitor to do it's job.
I did have several false alarms and still do at 7.5 months. But I just decided I'd rather deal with that then not use it. She's been so active since she was born, it's so hard to get her to stay in the motion pad's range. I just assume every time it goes off that it's a false alarm. I get up and re-adjust LO and go back to sleep. At this point, the alarm doesn't even faze her a bit. I don't think she's ever woken up from it.
I have heard that there is a way to link 2 pads together to get full coverage over the whole mattress, but since we're already at 7.5 months, I didn't see the point to investing in it. Maybe with #2
I'm so sorry about your sister.

I want to look into the 2 pads idea. That may help for the second go-round!
