3-yr-old stopped saying Please...?

She used to say it great: her answer to anything was "yesplease" or "nothankyou". Maybe she thought they were one word, haha! She was awesome at it for a long time; at least a year or so.

Then suddenly she stopped. I thought "it's just a phase" and have been gently reminding her. Months and months have passed and I still have to remind her EVERY SINGLE TIME. :(

What happened?? is this a developmental thing, she's a lot more verbal these days than she used to be....  I just am so tired of reminding her (I know, silly of me) but I dont' understand why she used to be awesome at it, and now she seems clueless about it, not matter how much I coach and remind her.

It may be a control thing. Honestly, I'd stop reminding her completely for a month. Only comment positively when she does it herself. "You remembered to say 'please'. That was very polite!" Then after a month if there is no improvement then add in a reminder every few times, but not every time. And by reminder, I don't mean "forceN her to say it, just tell her "It is very polite to say please" or "When someone gives you something, it makes them feel happy when you say thank you." Continue to model the polite behavior you want to see, and compliment DH on being polite within her hearing as described above. Personally I'd rather LO remember on her own most of the time than to say it 100 percent of the time but only because I'm there to remind her.

Ohhh! I will TOTALLY try that! She doesn't seem to be willful or stubborn abou it, but you advice is just what I needed: another viewpoint, another angle to come at it. Because I keep thinking "what I"m doing is NOT working!"
