What's your swing?

MH and I registered over the weekend and as I was going back over things it looks like the swing we registered for doesn't plug in, which I've always felt would be a lifesaver if we have a child that just HAS to be in the swing to calm down.  But then as I'm looking I think, do I want a swing that goes side to side AND front to back?  And as I look at different websites they tell me different things about the same swing and I'm slowly losing my ever loving mind over a swing that my baby will most likely hate to be put into for the first place.  /end rant.

So what's your swing of choice?

Re: What's your swing?

  • I'm in the same boat as you. I'm debating between the snugabunny swing or the papasan swing. I've heard lots of good things about the snugabunny swing.

  • Love my snugabunny! My LO goes through phases (he's currently 3 months). He'll be way into getting into the swing every day for a week, then hates it the next week. I do really like that it swings forward and back and side to side - he prefers different ways depending on his mood!

  • The Snugabunny is great, but I have the Bright Starts Ingenuity swing.  It doesn't make a sound while on and I have changed the batteries once in the last 5 months.  I use it a ton too.

  • We have the Snugabunny and have used it every day for more than six months...until the motor died on it yesterday. I am hoping Fisher-Price will send a replacement motor free of charge as I've seen other parents have been able to get, but I'm a bit disappointed that it did end up failing. I still love the swing though....
  • We have 2 swings. The lamb which is like the fp snugabunny and the fp zen. I like the lamb however the light mobile feature is too bright and blinds DD so she screams. Also the motor is much louder than the zen, and I wish I could remove the head pad feature but it's sewn on. It also takes a alot longer to dry when washed. DD sleeps in it at night upstairs nd naps in the zen downstairs. We bought the zen for DS last year and decided to get a swing for each floor of the house for DD because they are such a pain to move. If I had to do it again I'd probably buy a 2nd zen but the lamb is ok.

  • I don't think you can go wrong with the snugabunny swing. I don't like the look of the mamaroo but it is highly rated. But I don't think it is worth it for that price.

  • We were given a hand me down battery operated swing.  If I have another kiddo I would seriously consider buying a plug-in swing.  DD used almost 100 bucks in batteries in our swing over 7 mos. that we used it. D batteries are expensive. She love love loved her swing and used it a lot for long naps.

Our swing would switch between side to side and front to back and dd really only cared for front to back.  I'm sure some babies would have a different preference though.

  • Snugabunny. It was a lifesaver after we tried the Graco SweetPeace, which was a fail.

  • FTM here so I have no personal experience BUT- 4 of our friends have the mamaroo and absolutely LOVE it.  One thought it was way to expensive so she didnt register/buy it and after a few rough days, tried it at our other friends house.  It worked wonders.  She immediately ran to the store to buy it.

I have also heard great things about the snuggabunny

    Good luck!
