I was going to start C25k, but I came to the realization I had to train according to my own comfort. I found I progressed much faster than the C25k plan entails. My plan was simple: run as far as I could for as long as I could at a comfortable pace. I would run until I felt I needed to walk. I started running probably .8 mile, then I made it to a mile, then a mile and a half, and so on. I can now run a 5k, and I've been training since late September. Although, I found running on a good machine or outside is much easier than just running anywhere.
I will add I have asthma, and I was a former smoker (smart, I know). This new habit has helped me in so many areas. I literally cannot go a few days without running, and it makes me never want to smoke again.
I would say go at a pace you feel comfortable and don't judge how fast or slow you go. A 13 minute mile is a MILE! It's hard work and takes some dedication regardless of how fast or slow your pace is. Good Luck and keep on keepin' on!

I did the training program. I actually think around week 7, I started running 3 miles. If I remember right, it's a 9 week program. Anyway, I really liked it. I was really out of shape and have never ran. I started it around September and ran a 5K the week before Thanksgiving. I recommend it.
I did it. I made it to week 4. I was running better than I ever thought I could! I have never ran a second before that in my life.
Im so upset I quit. Life got busy. I'm having surgery in 2 weeks, then 10 days recovery time. After that I'm hitting the treadmill again! I seriously can't wait!! I highly recommend the program. I'm planning to run a 5K in the spring/early summer.
I did it, I will run my last C25k run this week. It took me 4 months to complete it because I took my time and repeated weeks if I felt I needed it. I haven't ran since high school, almost 20 years ago. I am under my pre babies weight and in the best shape of my adult life. I will be running my first 5k this spring or summer.
