Job interview tomorrow!!

Before J, I worked at our church as a secretary part time.    When J came along, we decided it would be best for me to stay home.  While I have loved staying home, I have began to wonder what I will do with myself when she and any other kids we have are in school full time.  Well, a part time aid position came up at the preschool in our church, and I applied!  I know the preschool staff VERY well having worked at the church for nearly 2 years, and having attended church there for 3.  I also know everyone on the preschool board and staff of the church very well.  The best part is this will open up to a "full time" teaching position in a year or so!  ("Full time" because it is only 2-3 mornings a week, from 8-11:30.).

I know the other applicants and their past profession history, and I feel extremely confident about my chances.

So the point of my post:  I haven't had a job interview in like 3+ years!  Any advice?  Also, I have been struggling with what I should wear....  I am still not in all my pre-baby clothes, so I am limited, BUT I also will be observing (aka helping and doing the job) before hand.  Any outfit ideas?  Haha!

Re: Job interview tomorrow!!

  • Could you do yoga pants with nice, pretty, flat shoes and a nice top? I would think you would need something that isn't super dressy that you can move around and get up and down off the floor in.

  • Do you have a friend that is around your current size that you could possibly borrow some clothes for the interview for? And then if you get the job you could always go somewhere and get some clothes afterwards once you know what their dress policy is.

  • Do you have any stretchy dress pants? Most of the black dress pants I own have some give in them.  I would do that with a blouse (I like button ups for interviews but I bet a sweater would be just fine) and flats or a low heel.

    Congrats on the interview!

  • So exciting!

Everyone above suggested similar to what I was thinking.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

  • Will you be doing the observing at the same time? If not, I would definitly try to dress professionally...even though you won't be dressing up while doing the actual job. If you will be observing at the same time, I'd dress nicely but also comfortably. Do you have any stretchy kakis? Pair those with a nice sweater and some comfy but nice (not running sneakers) shoes.
