This happened to me last week but it was so incredibly painful that I ended up at my doctor's office. They found an infection, I hope you don't have the same.
I've read it's not actually that uncommon. Something about increased blood flow makes it more sensitive in the lady land. I have a doctors appointment on Friday already so I will be sure to ask!

For me, that's one of those awkward type questions that I'll ask anyway - and feel awkward while doing so. My OB is a somewhat goofy and awkward guy to begin with (with an equally awkward mustache), my husband and I joke constantly "yeah, that will be AWESOME asking The Stache about the size of my nipples!!!!"
