Food sensitivity question

Hey ladies- Trying to figure out what's going on with my LO. If/when your LO had a food sensitivity (not necessarily allergy) how did you know it?

Did anyone's LOs have runny nose? Congestion? Trouble sleeping at night and gas as symptoms? Did peanuts  bother anyone's? I think dairy is sure thing for us but now I am wondering what else is causing this issue. It isn't everyday which makes me think it's something I am eating like nuts. aahhhh! This is tough!

Re: Food sensitivity question

  • Just wanted to add my experience.  Our pediatrician had me try an elimination diet to see if LO was having a sensitivity to something I was eating. LO also has reflux. The pediatrician had me cut out dairy, wheat, citrus, tropical fruits, peanuts, nuts, pork, and chocolate for a couple weeks than re-introduce slowly to see if LO had any reaction. He never had any sneezing or congestion. He had runny, mucousy stools that were sometimes green and had occasional blood.

  • DS had a chronic eczema type rash while EBF that turned into a hot bumpy rash the 1st time he had cows milk.  He was also very low on the weight percentile charts despite being very long/tall, but really had no other symptoms.   He was also fine with eggs, nuts, soy, everything else.  His was diagnosed as a true allergy, but when he weaned at 26m he started tolerating dairy just fine.  Interesting.  It was tough for the year we were both off of dairy, but I'm glad we were able to figure it out.  I'm sure you will, too!  Are you keeping a food journal?  That could def help narrow it down.  GL!
