What are your plans now that your LO is almost a year old?
My DD is still nursing 8-11 times per 24 hour period, so it looks like we will just keep on keeping on. I don't think I'd have an issue with nursing her until 2 if that is what she needs--although if we get to that point I'd probably go until she was 26 months so I could get her through flu season.
Re: BFing moms
I'm done pumping after his first birthday. Then I plan to gradually wean to WCM for during the day. I've got a decent freezer stash so I'll be able to use that in the day weaning process.
The before bed and MOTN feeding might take a little longer. I was thinking of stopping the MOTN feeding after I'm done weaning him to WCM in the day day. (I only like to change one thing at a time.
My goal was to make it to a year and I'm ready to be done. It's never been comfortable for me or my nipples, especially now with teeth (yes, I know your not supposed to feel them, but he's a lazy latcher and I have mild vasospams)
Ugh that is a confusing area for me. Right now she nurses 5 times a day normally, nothing at night. Pretty rarely I have nursed her 4 times a day but only because her routine was off those times and it made sense. I would like to permanently drop the 5th session when she turns a year but I'm worried about it because she doesn't drink anything else. If she drinks an ounce of water a day it is a GREAT day. So I don't want to decrease her fluid intake. To top it off, I'm never really sure when she's actually hungry, other than the 1st morning one, because ever since we finally got on a "schedule" when she was younger I have just fed her every 3-4 hours. I have no idea if I'm supposed to give her water or WCM or nothing and just not worry about it when I want to drop that 5th session. I feel like it's been "easy" for so long, I hate that I have to think about things now, haha.
The plan right now is that nothing much will change once she turns a year, other than hopefully dropping that one feeding. I plan to let her nurse for a while longer, I'll just play it by ear. I would like to be down to no more than 3 times a day by 18 months though.
Ramona nurses around 8 times a day and that won't change until she wants it to change. I did stop pumping about three weeks ago so when go to work (substitute teacher) she is slowly using up my stash and when she finished that she'll have WCM.
Right now she has one bottle of formula with dinner (pedi suggested it to help her STTN, not working so far) and that will be WCM when she turns 1.
This is our plan, too.
