Bump from progesterone shot

I've noticed that I've developed a small bump on my upper hip in the area that I've been receiving my weekly progesterone injections.  I have been receiving my injections on alternating sides each week and the bump in only on my left side.  It occasionally itches, and looks like a hive or bug bite, about .5"-1 in size.  I can feel a bump under the skin and it's slightly hard.

Just wondering if this is a normal side effect and if anyone else had experienced this as well.

  • Hi, I have an additional question for folks. I received my first 17P shot last week. My nurse told me to expect a small bump or a flu shot like soreness and to call my doctor if I saw hives/ rash or had an allergic reaction. Luckily I didn't experience any of that. I did however experience nausia, hot flashes and some mild cramps the day after the shot. I'm really hoping that was a one time reaction and won't happen every week. Anyone else have similar side effects: hot flashes, nausea, cramping?

  • Very much normal side effect. Normally my injection site would itch for a day or two.

  • Last week, my shot hurt SO much!  It was awful and then the site was red and itchy for a few days.  From asking around on FB, it seems normal to happen every once in awhile.  And of course last week I was glad to get it from the 'better' nurse who is more gentile.  Usually I have less side effects from her, so it must have just been a bad location.
