Typical eating schedule

Hi all! Sometimes I feel like I'm going to go insane trying to get my LO on a feeding schedule. I was wondering what yours looks like? I feel like everywhere i look the guidelines are different. gerber online has where you can look at a typical feeding schedule but it just seems like a lot of food. i get concerned bc my lo is big for his age. hes 7 1/2 months and is 22lbs. Here is ours.

7am-6 oz bottle

8am-2.5 tbsp of oatmeal with 2tbsp of fruit

9am- 4oz bottle then nap

11am- 2.5 tbsp of rice and 2 tbsp of veggie

1pm- 6oz bottle

4:30-6oz bottle

5:30- 2 tbsp of rice with 2tbsp of veggie and  1.5 tbsp of fruit

7:30-6oz bottle

Re: Typical eating schedule

  • We don't really have a rigid schedule with DD. On the days I work, she gets a 5 oz bottle of breastmilk every 3 hours, plus some veggies and meat after her noon bottle. She nurses at 6pm, then eats some fruit or veggie, then nurses again before bed. On the days I' m home, she nurses on demand, which is about every 2 hours and she'll also get her lunch and dinner of solids. If she seems interested we'll do some fruit or veggie in the morning too, but most days she just gets solids twice a day

This for me, except I give her a solid "lunch" instead of breakfast because she is a late sleeper.

  • Thanks ladies! It's nice to see what your schedules are like!!

this for us too..demand is typically every 2 hours.

  • We do more of a BLW approach with solids. I don't do many purees except to mix with his oatmeal.

    7-8am: 8oz bottle

830-9am 3-4tbsp oatmeal with a container of fruit plus some cheerios or muffin or banana

    11am-noon: 8oz bottle

noon: lunch which is whatever we are having - mac-n-cheese or cheese quesdila etc

    3-4pm: 8oz bottle

5-530pm: dinner - whatever we are having

    645-7pm: 8oz bottle

DS1 was a big boy and still is. He has always been in the 99%tile for weight and height. At 7 months he was eating us out of house and home on purees. It was crazy. He would do 2-3 jars of baby food at each meal. We put him on table food at 7 1/2 months. Ds2 was way smaller but still was a big eater. We did BLW with him b/c he hated to be spoon feed. DS3 is small too and as you can see still eats a ton. I learned after my first to not sweat it. If he's happy and full then that's all that matters.

  •  We started solids at 6 months and I make all of his food except for oatmeal.

    Between 6 and 7 Nurse

Between 9 and 10 1 ounce breast milk mixed with oatmeal and some fruit with 4 oz bottle

    Around one 5 ounce bottle

After nap around 4pm 4 or 5 ounce bottle with an ounce or two of veggies

Once I am home from work he nurses twice then goes to bed.

We only do two meals because my pedi said not to go to three until 9 months.  Her viewpoint is it is for practice not for nutritation and if you feed too much the baby won?t want breast milk or formula.
