Question about CS modification and paperwork

DH and I are modifying his child support. The calculator only takes into account his income, BM's income, daycare, health insurance, and number of children each parent has. DH and I have a lot of paperwork to fill out like info on how much our house and cars are worth, IRA, 401K, monthly living expenses, etc. I'm curious as to why they want this info when they don't use any of it for calculating CS. Does anyone know?

    In our state there is just one form called a Case Information Statement that is used for all financial decisions from the divorce on down, so it's v all encompassing. They make you fill out a new one whenever there is a financial change even if some of it does no apply. I think it's just a beurocracy thing... Why create a new form when this one serves all the purposes.

    In my state they told me they require the forms but do not use them for anything.  Beautiful hoops to jump through.

    Not sure, I know in my state. The only thing used in the calculation is NCP's income, # of children the NCP has and medical insurance premium amount. However, the forms still require the CP's income. We only guess that it is in case custody switches they have a history of the other person's income for CS calculations.

    Perhaps it is to catch people who are hiding income from child support but living high on the hog otherwise.

    I too have wondered why they ask for the information if they dont consider it when calculating the amount of CS. Does anyone else's state ask for the total cost of transportation between visitaiton? The reason I ask is DHs "state" does and it ends up being $5K-$8K a year depending on if it is the holiday season we get SS.
