Right now all of our kids' arts and crafts supplies are thrown in a cupboard in our kitchen. We just moved and the cupboard above our message center in the kitchen ended up being the perfect place for it all. I need to organize it, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I figure I will use little rubber made totes for the crayons, paints, brushes, etc. and a paper tray holder for all the construction paper. In the previous house I used a large plastic tray (found it at Target, it was meant to go inside of an under the bed storage tote but it worked perfect for on top of our fridge). I just stacked everything in there (all the small stuff was organized in ziploc bags.)
I got a bunch of the shoe box-sized plastic containers at Target for $0.82 each. We have one for paints, one for play dough, one for stickers, one for crayons, etc.
They're all lined up on a shelf in the playroom. Right now she can't reach it, but she'll be able to get things down on her own when she's older (maybe 6 or 7).
I have a cupboard above my dryer in the laundry room full of paint/permanent markers/things I don't want her getting into. I also have a 6-drawer rolling cart and a small open shelving unit in there that holds manipulatives/crafty things that I don't mind if she pulls out to play with.
My daughter is 2, I keep her crayons in an old baby wipes container and the rest of her stuff is in a big popcorn tin. I haven't been brave enough to open the play doh yet, lol

check out pinterest, so many ideas! one that I love (but havent done yet) is a clear plastic over the door shoe organizer, you can put different items in the shoe 'slots'.
I have a large plastic bin w/ stuff I don't want them getting into that is up high in a closet, playdoh is in a plastic drawer thing, markers in a cup on the counter, crayons & paper & colored pencils & coloring books in a drawer under that counter.
There's no method to my madness. I eithe give him a coloring book and crayons and set him up at the table or I give him finger paints and stuff to glue but hover with wipes for quick clean up if needed.
