Apparently, I have a tummy sleeper.
Over the weekend I posted about having trouble getting LO to sleep in her crib. She's been in her swing for several weeks. So we had a REALLY rough few nights, but I was determined to stick with it. Last night she cried and fussed and I was back and forth with her for over an hour. Finally I decided to try laying her down on her side. She immediately rolled onto her belly, rolled her head to the side and fell asleep. I left her for a few minutes and then gently put her back on her back. I went to the bathroom, came out and looked at the monitor, and she was back on her tummy.
So of course I was nervous and up half the night checking on her, even though she can roll over and does have really great neck strength. She slept for almost 11 hours, with one wake-up for a bottle at her normal time - 2:30am.
So my question is, if you have a tummy sleeper, do you put them down on their tummy, or put them on their back and let them roll over on their own? And do you do the same for naps?
Re: Question for tummy sleepers
I put DD down on her belly for both naps & nighttime sleeping.
We put them down with a bottle. If they are still awake after they are done eating we flip them to their stomachs. Jason will sleep a good 7 hours or so straight most nights this way. Braidon still wakes up about 2 times but way better than the 6 he would if we left on his back. If he's on his back he has to be swaddled and we're trying to get away from that.
For naps we just automatically put them on their tummy. They usually are knocked out with in a few minutes.
When she was younger, I would place her on her belly sometimes, though.
This is what I do with DS.
She naps in the RNP and I now have to strap her inbecause she tries to roll over in it.
ETA: We have a movement monitor that she sleeps on, it helps calm my nerves about it.
Me too. If it wasn't for that monitor u would never sleep.
