Not really looking for advice, just commiseration LOL. I know he will come around and if we keep on him enough it'll eventually click but GEEZ!
DD is a good eater, she uses her fork & spoon & has for a long time (they're 3 1/2), she doesnt really get food on her clothes unless it is a spill from something liquidly like soup or milk in cereal, the floor around her chair is usually relatively clean unless we've eaten something really crumbly. Her brother, on the other hand, still much prefers to use his hands though he can use a fork & spoon (and of course does 100% of the time at daycare but at home always wants to go to town w/ his hands), the floor around his chair is always full of various dropped items & god forbid we eat something really messy like rice or cornbread or something, his shirt & hands are always a mess even if I give a napkin & remind him to use it, and he will not eat many foods the normal way, must always dissect it- eg opens up sandwiches to eat out the insides before eating the bread, eats all the cheese & toppings off pizza before the dough, etc.
AH! I'm so sick of having to sweep my kitchen floor around the chairs 5 times a day and be on him every bite asking him to use his fork/spoon! Anyone with me?
Re: any1 else w/ LO > 3 yo who is still a train wreck at meals?
Must be a boy thing. DS is an insanely messy eater. And fidgity too - won't sit still, up/down, etc. But I think he's less messy at DCP - peer pressure, maybe?
His messiness/fidgitiness drives us nuts!!
