What kind of arts and crafts projects do you (or DCP) do with your toddlers?
I'm so not creative and I'm sure Griff would have a blast doing arts and crafts.
Bonus points if I can get the supplies from the Dollar Store and if its an easy clean up afterwards ![]()
Re: Arts and Crafts
some of the recent things he brought home were:
yarn art - they snip different color yard different small lengths (like 1inch to 3inches) and then they squeeze glue on construction paper and he puts the yarn all over.
different ways to paint - like using legos as "stamps" or small rollers or chopped up sponges.
they do the glue thing with different cut out shapes of paper too.
He likes just painting in regular paper. Instead of having to clean brushes, I let him paint with qtips so I can just throw them away.
I know they do a lot on the Sprout Channel, and by the looks of it have some ideas on their website:
https://www.sproutonline.com/
I have a page of all the crafts we have done listed by theme or season on my blog. Pinterest is a great place for ideas too. https://tripmomma.blogspot.com/p/crafts-and-fun.html
They do a lot of coloring flash cards and then the teacher cuts them out. Last week it was words that start with P and words that don't and then we could go through them and decide if the word started with P or not. It was out of her comprehension, but she had fun with it.
They also do those stringing beads, which you could duplicate with a shoelace and items around the house.
DC does tons of stuff I'd never think of. The easy stuff they do though is cut out pics from magazines and let the kids do a collage for whatever the theme for the week is, paint with stuff (fruit, wooden rollers, blocks, etc.) and the cutest new thing was a helmet. It was made from half of a gallon milk jug and then they glued pictures, cutouts, stickers on it. It was really cute and C loved wearing it.
At home, we do lots of painting with watercolors, fingerpaints, do-a-dot paints plus make collages with bits of tissue paper, stickers, etc. He also has glitter glue pens (cheap from Target) that he likes. We recently bought markers which he adores but knows he has to use them at his play table only.
This. Maybe I'll suggest that she do crafts over at my mom's house.
yeah in my house painting is an outside activity- yeah so no more painting until spring. Glitter is also not allowed- it gets everywhere. We have played with play doh at play dates- so I am planning on getting some- but the rules are only at the kitchen table- as markers, crayons, and stickers are only used there. I guess we do any craft activity in the kitchen since it has tile floors.
I should really look up more things to do with him. He would love to do it, but I also have an aversion to messes when it comes to him. If I can't fix most of it with the bathtub I feel like its too complicated. lol
This is totally me too. I'm sure G is sick of stickers and crayons.
I hate the clean up afterwards too. PITA but I have to suck it up for my boys!
My guy & I made paper chains yesterday out of construction paper & tape. (He was inspired by a retro Mr. Rogers' episode). It wasn't messy at all and he loved it.
In truth, I did lots of it - but he helped choose the color, fold the construction paper, tear it, and then put a small piece of tape to secure.
