Aden & Anais Blanket in Crib?

LO is 5 months old and still is napping in her swing. I want to stop doing this. Right now she currently sleeps in her swing and I give her an A&A blanket while she is in the swing. It has kind of become a sleep cue and she seems to like it. Would it be safe to put an A&A blanket in her crib to help with the transition for naps? I know you aren't suppose to do blankets but since the A&A blankets are muslin and breathable I thought maybe it would be ok. I know they make lovies but A&A isn't cheap and since we already have the blankets just thought it might be a good sleep cue for the transition. So what is the verdict?

Re: Aden & Anais Blanket in Crib?

  • Chloe sleeps with an A&A security blanket. They are about $15 for a pair of them. It's breathable as you said, and small and lightweight so she can move it herself. She rubs it on her face as she falls asleep then drops it to the side.

She had a lovie but got it stuck on her face one day so she can only have that while shes awake until shes older.

  • Strangulation, did not think of that. Good point.  I always figured it was just an issue of her pulling it over her face and it being a choking hazard. Glad I asked. Good to know that the lovie is a good option, I just don't want to purchase yet  another thing unless I think there is a chance that she really will attach to it.

  • We have the AA security blankets too and love them! DS puts the silky part on his face it helps him fall asleep!

  • DD naps with a Taggies Blanket. It is small enough it cant get wrapped around her neck and yes it is thicker but isn't an issue. She actually pulls it up over her face to fall asleep, then I pull it off once she is asleep.

  • my LO isn't rolling yet, so i have a cradle size crochet blanket she sleeps with every night. i put it under her arms (she always sleeps arms out) and tuck it around her sides.  its the same blanket she used when she was in the cradle.

and i get blankets "could" be a strangulation risk, but so is a ton of other stuff that people have been using with babies for a very long time.

i'd say if she isn't rolling yet, go for it, just keep it around her waist or under armpits at highest.

i'd do sleep sacks, but even at thrift stores/second hand we just can't afford them right now with me being laid off.

The lovie versions are great. The issue with the big blankets is the strangulation risk. They can get them wrapped up around their necks.nbsp;Do you have one you wouldn't mind cutting up into the smaller size?

The lovey versions are two for 20 bucks.
