How did you go about it? I need to start I'm afraid it will hurt

here is what I do now. Nurse when he wakes and he eats solds. Then he takes 4 oz and cherrios at 10, lunch at 1 w/ water, 4 pm nurse (5 mins total), dinner at 6 with water. Pump at 7:45 pm for the bottle my husband feeds him at 7:30 pm. Should I start my cutting out the 10 am pumping? I have a ton of milk stored, so LO will still get breast milk through his first bday. Any suggestions or advice on how u weaned? Tia

Re: Those who have started weaning?
Personally, I cut out pumping first. I am not sure Paul and I are both ready to quit BF yet, so I figured that was the best way to go. I would cut out the 10am, because that way you are still emptying at the start and end of the day. Then I would cut the 4pm nursing session if you can. Then maybe the night time pump, and the morning BF session last.
So far, my middle of the day pumping sessions have not been too uncomfortable when I dropped them. It was a little tender for a few days, but not as horrible as I imagined. Right now I am down to BF in the morning and then before he goes to bed.
I plan to drop the morning feeding next. I am going to give him WCM and try to distract him. I hope it won't be too bad-we are pretty busy bustling around getting ready in the morning, so we'll see.
I dropped one pumping session per week, no discomfort. I did one pump per day every day last week, but think I'll pump once a day for the rest of this week at least.
BF sessions because I don't plan to do that quite yet.
I stopped pumping in the afternoon a few weeks ago when I realized it was taking way too long and she didn't really seem to need it anyway.
Now, I only BF 7 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. She has started taking way less at night. I am pretty sure it's because she eats such a good dinner.
Within the next couple of weeks I will go ahead and drop the 2 p.m. session. It will break my heart a bit because I go over to daycare and it gives me 20 min. with her. But she only eats for 5-7 min then anyway.
I didn't really plan to wean until she was a year old but it seems like has just been happening naturally and she seems totally okay with it. She will go to sleep w/o nursing and she seems to be just as happy if I hand her a sippy cup.
I'll just have to substitute extra snuggles for all the nursing!
